EAC 150 Research Essay Fictional literary work - 1100 Words
EAC 150 Research Essay: Fictional literary work (Essay Sample) Content: Topic:Name:Institution:Date:Fictional literary workOthello is a tragedy because the events defining how characters are relating and interacting with one another are tragic in nature. It concerns with problems such as family strife, intimate relationships, unhappy marriages (between Iago and Emily) and betrayals. The characters are in Cyprus in order to fight a war. Nevertheless, they do not focus on fighting war. The major challenge the protagonist is facing concerns with issues of love. Women are not determined to participate in war, though their presence caused the fall of Iago and Othello. The protagonists background is neither from a noble hero nor a kingship of high birth. He serves an army general, but his official duties stop when domestic problems begin. The characters perform their roles but move toward destruction with narrow escapes. The theme of tragedy can be manifested in the play; therefore this paper tries to justify why the play is tragic. The theme of tragedy is evident in the play, which presents the downfall of the protagonist (Othello), a legendary personality in the Italian community. The fall happens due to internal and external forces, particularly of Othellos own tragic flaw and the deaths of various characters. Othello is an admirable character, but his fall arouses fear and pity. He is trusting, but he is jealous. Othello falls because of an external force (Iagos hatred) working harmoniously with his own envious (tragic flaw) to ruin the life of his wife and also to kill himself. Because of his pride, the heroic character comes to realize his unfortunate mistakes when it is too late. The theme of tragedy can be seen as the consequences of racism and jealousy. Othello is a character with a serious flaw (furious jealousy). Othellos tragedy has something to do with his suspicion that all women are promiscuous and secondly his fear that he is a black person and, therefore, he is not good enough to afford living with his w hite wife. Jealousy is caused by mere evidence, which ruins lives. Othello succumbs to envy when Iago simply tells him that Desdemona is an unfaithful woman. Othello eventually kills his wife and also kills himself. Shakespeare and Holste opine that it becomes interesting to see that Iago uses jealousy to finish Othello; however jealousy is the source of hatred that begins to disturb Iago (273). Jealousy takes place in several ways such as through sexual suspicion and through professional competition, which all lead to destructive acts. Othello serves as a military general and due to his senior position; most people in the Italian community and even the government respect him (Bhattacharyya 249). Nevertheless, Iago is an antagonist who works to ensure Othellos downfall. Because of his jealous and resentful personality, Iago constructs Othellos downfall. He feels that Othello disappointed him because Othello promoted Cassio to serve as a lieutenant instead of him. Roderigo hates Othe llo since Othello is in a relationship with Desdemona, who is now Othellos wife. Brabantio also hates Othello because Othello married his daughter without his consent. Regardless of Othellos bold leadership, he is ruined by Brabantios, Roderigos, and Iagos conviction about Othellos national origin (race). This is because Othellos national origin is based on North Africa; he is a Moor. Due to his race, Italians; therefore, often scrutinize Othellos personality. Othello is a powerful person in the country, although his black-skinned race exposes him to some form of overt racism (Woodman 46). Brabantio believes that the interracial marriage of his daughter only occurred due to Othellos trickery. Othellos racial identity is undesirable; as a result, he lacks confidence in himself, which enables Iago to convince him that Desdemona is unfaithful to him. Most male characters believe that all Venetian women are naturally promiscuous, even though there is no substantial evidence to prove tha t (Kolin 49). Iago finds it quite easy to convince Othello with negative a view of sexuality. This justifies why female sexuality is a big threat to male characters found in the play. Othello is easily persuaded that his wife is unfaithful on him, and consequently he feels humiliated and rendered powerless. Both Emilia and Desdemona are unfairly accused of infidelity and are all murdered by their envious husbands. The marriage has been a source of death. Provided that men view women as unfaithful and promiscuous, the marriage institution is doomed. Iagos deception has been a tool that orchestrates destructions in the play. His deception has been potent due to his cleverness and patience, and he used this to revenge against Othello. Hatred is the cause of a lasting rage in the play. Tragedy is influenced by hatred. Iago comes to hate Othello, and he remains determined to finish his boss. He develops anger because Othello did not promote him as he wanted; he also becomes jealousy when he thinks that Othello is having an affair with his wife (Emilia). Iagos hatred is a self-propelling passion that forces itself without a consequence of any substantial action (Shakespeare 152). Iago becomes a force, which converts everything into its opposite, and love eventually becomes hatred. Some people feel that Othello is not best person to marry the Desdemona. Nevertheless, Desdemona loves Othello unconditionally. She loses her fathers love as a consequence of loving Othello. Othellos main weakness is envious that made him felt insecure and doubt. He becomes suspicious and doubts his marriage relationship with his wife. Envious convinces Othello that his wife has become unfaithful to him. He no longer trusts his lov...

Psychological Analysis On Ava s Communication Skills
At the end of 8 years of age heading into 9 years of age, I received a psychological analysis on Ava. Based on these results, I think I did well in the areas that involved Avaââ¬â¢s communication skills, language skills, as well as her memory skills. I believe this to be true because Avaââ¬â¢s scores have proven to be average or above average in these particular areas. Avaââ¬â¢s psychological analysis was performed by a highly trained psychologist. Ava took the verbal portion of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children. To explain these tests a little further, a score of 7 is one standard deviation above the mean, 10 is the mean, and 13 is one standard deviation above the mean. In information and comprehension Ava scored a 9. Both of these scores are almost the mean score. Ava also scored an 8 in vocabulary and similarities. Then her scores in math concepts, math application problems, and math computation tests were in the average range. Lastly, Avaââ¬â¢s scores on te sts of visual spatial ability (spatial rotation, copying of designs, etc.) were above average. When Ava was younger I took advantage of her natural born talent to read and write by giving her books to read. I would make each book increasingly more challenging for her vocabulary. I would also encourage her to improve her writing by practicing every day. The results in her report reflect this choice benefitted Ava because she is above average in ââ¬Å"â⬠¦word reading, reading fluency, phonological awareness, and spellingâ⬠Show MoreRelatedImaginative Play9679 Words à |à 39 Pagessocialize, becoming less impulsive, and improving your judgment. Fire and Water Imagery in Charlotte Brontes Jane Eyre
Fire and Water Imagery in Jane Eyre In Jane Eyre, the use of water and fire imagery is very much related to the character and/or mood of the protagonists (i.e. Jane and Rochester, and to a certain extent St. John Rivers) -- and it also serves to show Jane in a sort of intermediate position between the two men. However, it should also be noted that the characteristics attributed to fire and water have alternately positive and negative implications -- to cite an example among many, near the beginning of the novel, reference is made to the devastating effects of water (ceaseless rain sweeping away wildly, death-white realm [i.e. of snow]), and fire is represented by a terrible red glare; later, fire is represented as beingâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This is manifested most evidently in the case of the first Mrs. Rochester, who has a fiery eye, a lurid visage that flame[s] over [Janes], is associated with a fiery West Indian night, and who quite literally turns Thornfield into an inferno after an (unsuccessful) attempt at burning Rochester in his bed. However, this negative association with fire also occurs with Rochester himself, if only to a certain extent. His passion for Jane causes him to try to tempt her into a step which might not only doom her to the fire and brimstone of the afterlife but also a living hell -- as she says about the thought of becoming his mistress, she would be fevered with delusive bliss one hour -- suffocating with the bitterest tears of remorse and shame the next. [yes!] Moreover, in his rà ´le as Byronic hero / tempter, the infernal association is not inappropriate either. It is perhaps significant that one of his earlier remarks to Jane is that he will pave hell with energy and form good intentions as durable as flint -- followed immediately by the new statute: unheard-of combinations of circumstances demand unheard-of rules, a statute that precipitates his attempted bigamy and the emotional torment and purgatoryShow MoreRelated Brontes Jane Eyre Essay: Importance o f Nature Imagery1550 Words à |à 7 PagesNature Imagery in Jane Eyre à à à à Charlotte Bronte makes extensive use of nature imagery in her novel, Jane Eyre, commenting on both the human relationship with the outdoors and with human nature. Answer: Introduction: Social media has become the part of the daily life of the common people all over the world. It has changed the lifestyle of the common population as well as the environment of the business related communication. In this report, the increased importance of the peer to peer communication and WOM through the use of social media platform will be analyzed. In order to do that, the important aspects of the peer to peer communication, WOM and the applications of these on Social media platform will be discussed in this paper. Peer to Peer communication: Peer to peer (P2P) communication is a promotional technique in which the consumers are encouraged to conduct promotional activities to other consumers. In this process, the existing customers of a business organization promote the products and services to other customers by sharing their experiences about the products r services with them. People like to collect the information from other people who have already used the products or services. The business organizations are also concerned about this fact. Most of the business organizations are trying to deliver the effective level of customer services for increasing their brand value by the use of P2P communication. Use of social media has opened a broader platform for the P2P communication activities (Dahlen, Lange Smith, 2010). Word of Mouth: Word of Mouth (WOM) is an important strategy of promoting a product or service to the customers. It can be defined as an oral interpersonal communication in the area of marketing and management. According to Roper Fill (2012), WOM is an informal communication between the producer and consumer about the use of the products or services. It is one of the most powerful ways to convince the target customers towards the products or services of a specific business organization. Fill (2013), mentioned that the WOM has greater power than the other traditional promotional activities. The main facility of this method is the ability of having an interactive session. Direct talking in an informal way always has more strength for understanding any fact. Belz and Peattie (2012) has also mentioned the WOM as a powerful weapon for understanding the customers opinions and their attitudes. Social Media platform: According to Rossiter Bellman (2005), use of the Social Media was started with Open Diaries. This was an online diary where the users were connected with each other within a virtual community. At present, the use of Social Media has a broader area. The media that is published and shared by a number f people in the internet can be treated as the Social Media. Blogs, images, videos etc are the social media. The social media platforms have enables the scope for social exchange of the information globally by using the social media platforms. At present the most popular social media platform is Facebook. P2P communication through Social Media: Peer to Peer communication has become the effective promotional tool of the business organizations through Social Media platform. In case of the P2P communication, the company takes a back seat and the customers play the vital role in the promotion of their business. Social media gives a platform where people can meet virtually and share their opinions through the platform. P2P fundraising has high power because it provides the followers the opportunity of raising efficient support for an organization, through the use of their own voices for getting connected with their friends and families. In order to do this effectively on social media platform, a business organization requires willing for resisting the urge to own its communications on the social media platform (Roper Fill, 2012). It instead requires giving up control fortrusting their supportersto speak on behalf of them. eWord of Mouth: Importance of the WOM is a famous and useful topic in the area of marketing. Interest in the practices of the WOM has been increased in these days as electronic word of mouth or eWOM. Internet is the source and outlet of the eWOM communication for the customers. The eWOM is able to give the advantages of normal WOM with the facility of communicating with a large number of people without facing the barrier of distance. According to Belch et al. , (2014), eWOM may have the similar effects like the WOM, but some specials skills needed for handling the eWOM. The C2C communication has been increased through the use of eWOM. Petersen, Kushwaha Kumar (2015) mentioned that the online product information through eWOM is affecting the customers and helping the business organizations to increase their brand image. eWOM behavior on Social Media: Social networking sites are playing positive role in spreading the eWOM communication. People are used to communicate with their friends in Social Media about the products or services they are using. In this way, the C2C communication is increasing in this platform. The business organizations are taking the initiative by developing pages in the social networking sites about their product and services. People are getting affected by this and they are providing their feedbacks in the pages (Dahlen, Lange Smith, 2010). These feedbacks are spreading to other users of the social network and become viral on the social networking site. Generally the advertising given by the business organizations are treated by the people as untrustworthy advertisements but the eWOM shared by the other users are treated as trustworthy comments. Influence of eWOM on Social Media: Petersen, Kushwaha Kumar (2015) mentioned that the people of the present world are spending more time by communicating with closed or non-closed people through social media rather than the face to face interaction. Dahlen, Lange Smith (2010) argued that eWOM through SNS is more active for affecting consumers purchase behaviors than the traditional advertising through these sites. Therefore, the business organization may have a greater advantage through the eWOM communication in the Social Media Platform. Because of this reason the business organizations are showing their interests in increasing the use of eWOM through the social networking sites. Social Media can be used for sharing information about oneself to others, including important updates of ones current actions, involvements, appreciated things and daily life (Belch et al., 2014). Users of some Social media platform can become friends with a certain brand, which is a way to express support for it, and that in turn might le ad to positive eWOM. This phenomenon of the Social Media platform is influencing the use of eWOM in Social Media. Conclusion: The study about the impact of the Social Media upon the peer to peer communication and WOM communication has been conducted in this paper. The peer to peer communication is very good for promoting the products or services of the business organization. The social media platform has opened a new window for increasing the promotional activities by using eWOM in Social Networking Sites. In these days, the life of Social Media has been more important than the practical life in terms of communicating with other people. The increased popularity of the virtual life of the common people is influencing the importance of peer to peer communication and the WOM communication. People used to trust the information shared by other users about a product or services which is increasing the importance of peer to peer communication in social networking sites. Choosing The Right Health And Fitness Topics
Choosing The Right Health And Fitness TopicsHealth and fitness topics have been a hot topic in college admissions for many years. An argumentative essay will certainly be an eye-catching entry point into college. It may seem that a subject such as health and fitness is not a very well-known subject to the average reader, but it has the potential to engage and keep your audience's attention. The idea behind a good argumentative essay is to show a 'point' rather than simply express an opinion. This is often easier said than done for many writers. Yet, if you are able to communicate your ideas clearly and efficiently, your argumentative essay will gain a lot of attention and readership. If you are considering writing a health and fitness essay, it is a good idea to know the fact about the topic. Health and fitness can include fitness activities or sport for example, and it could also include fitness products, services or health facilities. Just as you would not want to offer a health and fitness opinion based upon only your own observations, you should not offer a health and fitness opinion based on your own experiences. Such an opinion would be incomplete and inaccurate.Remember, a health and fitness topic should not focus upon you. Instead, the key word to be used here is 'you.' The audience needs to identify with the tone of your essay. Make it personal and even intimate to appeal to the kind of person that will read your essay. You should carefully choose a topic that will be interesting to your audience so that they will be interested in reading your argumentative essay.Although there are many forms of fitness and health topics, one of the most popular is the health and fitness topic. As previously mentioned, you should not write a health and fitness opinion based upon your own experiences; rather, you should choose a topic that will relate to your audience. Avoid topics that are not interesting to most readers. For example, there are health and fitness topics about methods of weight loss, but this is far more interesting and controversial than topics that focus on dieting or exercise programs. The best way to appeal to your audience is to use articles and research to establish an image. If you have not yet written an essay, consider writing an opinion piece or an essay that will focus on a particular health and fitness topic. To make your essay unique, be sure to draw from your experience. Make it personal by sharing your experiences and opinions with your audience and the general public.Appeal to your audience by making them feel like your listeners are your peers. Always use the 'first-person' format when presenting information to your audience. Do not adopt the 'I' format when using first-person format. A first-person essay is one that puts the speaker or writer in the role of 'I' or an 'I' experiencing the event. In this form, the writer is speaking directly to the audience. In addition to health and fitness topics, there are many othe r subjects to discuss when writing an essay. By presenting an opinion, you will not be limited by the subject matter of your topic. Use this freedom to demonstrate your unique perspective and appeal to your audience's interests.
